In an exciting evening celebrating some of our incredible local businesses, free-from bakery Beaky Blinders were awarded the New Forest Marque Brilliance in Business award for Food and Drink.
Beaky Blinders is a completely gluten, wheat, dairy and soya-free kitchen, with a passion and drive to create delicious sweet and savoury foods for everyone to enjoy. The team encapsulates the very best of local food production in the New Forest and we were very proud to name them our winners.
“Whether it’s an allergy, intolerance, or lifestyle choice, no-one should have to go without! Being gluten and dairy intolerant ourselves, we know how hard it is to find things that suit our dietary needs, that’s why we have researched, trialled and created our recipes and our ever expanding menu for our customers with or without dietary requirements to enjoy. It gives customers who have to be careful, a sense of normality and their very own little bakery!” – Beaky Blinders
“We had so many fantastic entries for our award this year, it was difficult to choose just one winner! In the end, Beaky Blinders truly demonstrated the growing importance of the local food and drink sector, and we were blown away by their dedication to their craft. Em and Nat are incredibly passionate about what they do, and their talent shines through in their delicious locally made produce. They are very worthy winners and we are all excited to see where the future takes them.” – Dan Parsons, New Forest Marque Chair
We know what your next question will be – where can you enjoy some Beaky Blinders treats? Based in Lymington, they have a regular spot at the weekly market. They attend lots of events throughout the year, and you’ll next find them at the Vibrant Forest Brewery on Sunday 10th December for their annual Christmas market. You can also order postal boxes directly from their website, and they offer a selection of bespoke bakes for every occasion, too.
“We were absolutely blown away to have won the Food and Drink Award, and it still feels surreal now! It’s an amazing feeling knowing that the judges saw our passion, love, drive and determination in what we do. It definitely makes all the long days and hard work worth it! Having this recognition for what we do is a huge achievement as there is such a stigma around free-from foods. So to win this award is a step closer to showing people with or without dietary requirements that you don’t have to settle for second best!” – Beaky Blinders
The evening saw two of our associate members win awards as well. Scott Bailey was awarded The Brockenhurst College Award for Training and Development, while Herbert William won The Forest Foodie Award for Outstanding Customer Care.
Congratulations to all the finalists and winners of the Brilliance in Business Awards 2023. It was a fantastic evening celebrating all the wonderful businesses we have right here on our doorstep!
