Event Details

An introduction to the life of the honey bee and how beekeepers manage an apiary.

The morning’s topics will include the honey bee life-cycle, how colonies are managed to keep bees happy and healthy, how the art of beekeeping has developed over millennia, and the range of equipment needed in an active apiary.

There will be time for informal discussion whilst enjoying a Ploughman’s Lunch.

In the afternoon you will visit a nearby apiary to see some working hives.

Full-length protective clothing will be provided for the apiary visit, but you should wear trousers or jeans and a long sleeved tee-shirt or jumper.
You need to bring your own wellies.

Under-18s should to be accompanied by a fee-paying adult.

Please note in order for this course to run there must be a minimum of 6 participants.
