New Forest Marque welcomes new member: Alderholt Mill

We want to give a warm welcome back to the latest addition to the New Forest Marque Alderholt Mill. Located on the edge of the New Forest National Park, on the Hampshire – Dorset borders, Alderholt is a traditional working watermill that also offers tranquil accommodation on site.

Alderholt Mill grinds locally grown wheat to produce wholemeal flour. The water wheel is still in full working order allowing the natural power of the river to grind the wheat the traditional way. There has been a mill on the site since the 14th century. The mill machinery was worked commercially until 1947, since then it was left to fall into disrepair. It was fully restored and successfully produced flour again in 1987. These days you can buy the freshly milled flour on site and in local outlets.

Alderholt Mill also uses its flour to make homemade cakes and scones to serve to guests and visitors. Best enjoyed with a peaceful view of the river! Jars of New Forest honey from their on-site bee hives can also be purchased.
