New Forest Marque welcomes new member Rockbourne Honey

We are really pleased to welcome Rockbourne Honey to the New Forest Marque.
Run by beekeeper Rob and his family, Rockbourne Honey began just two years ago with only two hives and has since grown to 18 active hives. What started as a small experiment has quickly turned into a passion, helped along by plenty of time spent outdoors in the rural fields surrounding the small village of Rockbourne.
For Rob, the bees always come first. Rockbourne Honey is very much about looking after healthy, happy hives, with honey only taken when there’s a genuine surplus. Plenty of the bees’ own honey is left in the hives over winter, rather than relying on artificial feeding, which helps support the bees naturally through the colder months.
The honey itself changes with the seasons, depending on which flowers the bees are visiting and where the hives are located. Harvested in small batches throughout spring and summer, it’s never blended, meaning each jar reflects a particular moment in the year. The honey is simply sieved to remove any larger pieces, keeping all the natural pollen and goodness intact.
Alongside honey, Rockbourne Honey also makes a lovely range of pure beeswax candles, using wax carefully collected throughout the year.
You can buy Rockbourne Honey directly from the end of Rob’s drive, or from a small number of local shops including Coombe Bissett Stores, Sandleheath Stores and The Gourmet Grocer in Fordingbridge.

We’re delighted to have Rockbourne Honey join the New Forest Marque community.
