We are really pleased to welcome the Green Man Association to the New Forest Marque.

The Green Man Association of the New Forest started in 2023 with its first event in 2024 organised by local residents Simon Wood, Kate Collison and Gary Llewelyn, with the assistance from some friends. The group was created to bring back the old traditions and folkloric festivals of the New Forest, re-imagined for today to make them relevant and help people to connect to their meaning.  Currently, the Green Man Association runs two main events – the Green Man Parade and New Forest Wassailing in Burley. Celebrated with traditional vibrant costumes, dancing and folk music.

The New Forest Green Man Association is about community – people coming together and connecting to the history of the Forest in a simple but fun and pleasurable way. 

The aim is to teach locals and visitors about the folkloric history of the New Forest, engage the public, bring about awareness of the special environment of the New Forest, and the nature and creatures living within it.
