The New Forest Marque’s message is being passed on to future generations through our work with local schools and youth organisations.
An educational highlight each year is the New Forest Schools Day when over 200 pupils take part in hands-on activities at New Park, Brockenhurst. The event is organised by Hampshire Country Learning and pupils enjoy learning about what happens in the New Forest throughout the year and what makes it such a special and unique place.
- making wattle fences.
- blind taste testing local produce.
The event is hugely beneficial for the children as they learn about the special qualities of produce grown within the New Forest and the importance of seasonality. Our work with secondary Schools includes a project with Trafalgar School in Downton. As part of their annual sustainability day, we talk about the New Forest Marque during their assembly and then assist with the rest of the day as pupils are given the task of designing a sustainable restaurant in the New Forest that uses local produce. We also collaborate with a number of local Primary Schools on New Forest Marque themed programmes.
The New Forest Marque is proud to include the Countryside Education Trust and Greenwood School as New Forest Marque Members. Both organisations deliver a unique New Forest themed program of education to their pupils and work closely with the New Forest Marque to connect with local producers.
We enjoy teaching the next generation about the importance of local produce, and also how to explore career opportunities in the relevant industries. If you would like to arrange a visit for your school please contact us contact us
