Plate of food

The fabulous team at The Trough did New Forest Marque members proud on Thursday with a VIP lunch in Lyndhurst.

Held at the historic New Forest Verderers Court, the event was attended by more than 20 guests including the Minister for Rural Affairs Lord Benyon and representatives from New Forest organisations.

Guests gave a round of applause for the catering, supplied by The Trough, and the many local producers featured on the menu.

New Forest Marque Manager Claire Lee spoke at the event about the Marque and its work to champion businesses who pride themselves on producing and providing food, drinks and crafts with clearly defined New Forest provenance.

Claire said: ‘Our guests enjoyed a local produce lunch provided by The Trough. The refreshments were very welcome and in fact the sausage rolls were described as the best ever tasted.

‘Showcasing a wide variety of Marque members’ produce to guests from across the Forest and further afield is a great way for us to highlight the range of local produce our members offer and to inspire others to support local.

‘The opportunity to offer true local produce on the menu like this, is yet another way to raise awareness of the New Forest Marque and the provenance of the produce which is labelled with the Marque logo.’

Marque members featured on The Trough’s menu included:

Fluffetts Free Range Eggs

Lightfoot’s Farm

New Forest Mushrooms

New Forest Smokery & Trout Farm

Noah’s Ark Farm

New Forest Spring Water
